Once again I dropped off the radar. Then again, what else is new? After a rough patch things are starting to turn around. Everything isn't back to normal but it's getting there. One thing at a time I guess. Still trying to design Monkey Madhouse version 2 but that's further down my list at the moment.
Originally, I had planned on the redesign and not to post anything until that point. But since I'm taking a really long time to do that, felt it was just best to put something up so people don't think I just gave up on the site completely. After all, everyone needs an outlet of sorts no matter who they are.
Hopefully I'll be a bit more frequent here but you never can tell. Crossing my fingers. Oh, by the way, congrats to the Cubbies for their Central Division Championship. It's nice to have baseball in October at Wrigley again.
Yes, I'm still among the living. I've been taking care of a few things and have fallen off the radar for a bit but things are looking up again. More to come. But me being a huge procastinator one never can tell. Will be back again soon.
I thought I was close to getting Monkey Madness 2.0 up and running so was holding off on posts and photo updates. Little did I know that having a site design made is far from actually getting it implemented. It's photoshopped and sliced to pieces but so far any attempt to make it into a workable expanding web site is a bit down the line yet. So back to posting here until that time. Moving ahead at a snails pace.
Then again, what else is new when it comes to this place.
After playing hooky on Friday (AKA taking a personal day) I return to the office to find it crazy. Every trouble call a one off bizarro incident that needs every bit of my attention to resolve. That wouldn't be so bad if that attention didn't have to be spread across 40+ tickets. 8 hr shifts are already a tiring work day, 12 hr shifts at this rate will be exhausting. All I know is that I have 3 weeks of vacation and a week of personal time to use this year. And I've got the feeling I'll actually be using every one of them.
The new Daily Daves are back up and running. Back in 2004 I managed to make it an amazing 6 1/2 months before it fizzled out. A new year equals a new run at breaking that record. Some people called it repetitive, others narcissistic. Others called it just plain dumb. I happen to call it all of the above. But that doesn't stop it from being a space filler for a very lazy webmaster. Enjoy.
On another note, the Daily Dave is going to make its long awaited return. A new year, a new me, a new Daily Dave for 2007. Fun, fun, fun huh? Focusing on the not so serious part of life is one of my new goals this year. Here's to being goofy once in awhile.
Well, hopefully it will be. And hopefully you're feeling better then that poor slob above. As for me, I'm trying to have a new outlook on life this year and looking ahead instead of behind. Things move on, and so must I. I'm just trying to change a lot of the things that have been holding me back this past year and what better time to do it then in a new one?
After all, Halloween is just around the corner. And what better way to get my mind off things than to work on a costume for my favorite holiday? I picked up a few more things and found a few more pictures of my subject today. All I need to do now is hobble together a couple of props, pick up a few last minute details and I'm all set. As for what I'm going as, that will remain a secret until I have pictures to post.
Well, maybe just a little hint... "BERWYN!!!" Those of you from Chicagoland should get it right away. For those of you a bit farther away, you'll just have to wait for the pics. In the meantime, get your 3-D glasses and rubber chickens ready and as always,
Thank you.... for all your cards and letters... :D
Yeah, I know, so much for timely posts. For anyone still reading this, I've gotta give you a ton of credit since I've been a regular slacker when it comes to writing anything. Guess it comes with being in a major funk for most of the year so far. But as with all bad things, whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Hopefully, after everything is said and done that will be true.
Once again another birthday rolls around. And since I'm on the train and don't have an internet connection, stock photos and celebratory gifs must suffice. :D
Look who's another year older today!
Happy Birthday Uncle Wally! Bring on the clapping monkeys!
I would have had one for every year but that would have been a whole hell of a lot of monkeys.
Happy Birthday Uncle Wally, may it be a happy one.
Here it is 2006 already. Kinda funny how it all slips by. But like it or not, a new year is here. And with it, the obligatory New Years Resolutions. That, or a list that vaguely resembles one. For my first post of the new year, I give you..
THE LIST
1. Keep in touch with people I care about.
This one is fairly self explanatory. For those of you who know me, you know that I suck at keeping in touch. I like to blame it on a lot of things that seem to be out of my control but you all know as well as I do that's bullshit. It doesn't take much to send an e-mail, phone call, etc. I'll do it tomorrow won't be an option forever. Life's too short.
2. Get my bills in order.
Then again, who doesn't need to do this? N'uff said. Just gonna have to buckle down and whittle away. Every step forward is at least one in the right direction.
3. Get off my ass and work out.
Desk jobs can be Hell on fitness. Couple that with stress and fatigue and that equals a big fat Dave. Now at a sturdy 220lbs I am now the heaviest I have ever been. Things have got to change in that dept. Maybe if I posted a picture of my flabby self that would motivate me more. That, or it would just scare off the few of you that read this. :P
4. Study up and get my CCNA.
I went to a class back in mid September that was supposed to prep me for taking the CCNA exam. (Cisco Certified Network Associate for all you non-geeks) But then the work schedule change came up shortly after and it took some time to get acclimated. I'll study when I get this done I said, that done I said. Well I'm acclimated. And this and that can share their time with hitting the books.
5. Get my apartment cleaned up. Finally.
After having lived here for just over a year now, it still looks as as if I just moved in. Pictures remain un hung, stuff still in boxes, etc.. Things are just in general disarray around here. I think I'm going to take a personal day soon to just buckle down and force myself to do it. Then I can finally have that party that I told people I was going to have.. 15 months ago...
6. To be continued...
This by no means is a list of ALL the things that I need to work on, merely a starting point. And hopefully not too overwhelming a one. Once these things start happening though, other things will start to fall into place. Things get better because people attempt to make them better.
Just a little joke I found in my inbox this morning. Enjoy.
An old married couple no sooner hit the pillows when
the old man passes gas and says, "Seven Points."
His wife rolls over and says, "What in the world was that?"
The old man replied, "It's fart football."
A few minutes later his wife lets one go and says" Touchdown, tie score."
After about five minutes the old man lets another one
go and says,"Aha. I'm ahead 14 to 7"
Not to be outdone the wife
rips out another one and says, "Touchdown, tie score."
Five seconds go by and she lets out a little squeaker
and says, "Field goal, I lead 17 to 14."
Now the pressure is on
the old man.
He refuses to get beaten by a woman, so he strains
real hard. Since defeat is totally unacceptable, he gives it
everything he's got, and accidentally craps the bed.
Okay, now that I'm finally getting used to this new 1130pm-800am shift I'll definitely look into updating more often. Right after I start studying up on my CCNA stuff so I can finally get my test out of the way. Sure, I'll try to post a bit more regularly , but the redesign will definitely have to wait until at least the new year.
Yeah, I know, crappy first post after an almost 2 month absence. So sue me. It's not like anyone actually reads this crap anyway. :P
Again with the lack of updating.. This time though I guess it's since things are getting better and some of the holes I've been in lately I've been helped out of by certain people who mean the world to me. (Thank you for helping me out when the light at the end of the tunnel seemed so, so far away, you know who you are.)
Things have started turning around again for me although some things are still a bit on the strange side. Those things will work themselves out one way or the other sooner or later so no major worries there. Still, it hurts at times though...
Another thing, work hasn't been so crazy lately. About time huh? Speaking of work, getting swung to 3rd shift come Nov 1st. That means coming in at 1130pm Sunday through Thursday instead of normal non-vampiric daylight hours. Sleep cycle will be getting bit messed up as I have to get used to sleeping during the daylight hours. Maybe I should invest in a coffin so I can go for the whole nocturnal package.
The upside to that wacky schedule will be the downtime. When not answering the 3 phone calls I may get during an loooooong 8 hr shift, I'll have lots of opportunities to revamp this place. Ha ha! Revamp.. Get it? re-vamp...? I know, I know, that was bad.. Then again, when have you known me not to be that way? So there... That's about it for now, another train ride just about over so I gotta run for now.
Oh but one last thing... Those of you wondering about my Halloween costume this year you're not going to believe it but I haven't come up with an idea yet. (GASP!) But fear not true believers, I WILL come up with something soon. And you better believe I'll take pictures of what ever I finally come up with. It's crunch time so I better get cracking.
Man do I really need to revamp this site. The archives have become nonexistent, posts infrequent (as always) and features and photos left un updated. Plus, the design is still a bit more amateurish then I would like it. Almost time to break out the Photoshop and the Dreamweaver and start thinking of Monkey Madhouse Vers 2.0. Face it, you're stuck with me for another year and the least I can do is try to make it presentable. Sorta like a good housecleaning.
Oh, speaking of that, I should really get back to it. Been here in Hoffman Estates for almost 9 months and my place still looks like I just moved in yesterday.. You thought I procrastinated when it came to cleaning up this place out here?? You should see my apartment. :)
Work has reached a new level of insanity today. Now if only insanity paid better.... And just in case any of them happen to read this? I have 3 words for them.
GET MORE PEOPLE... You want timely escalations and proactive tickets? Get the staff to support them.
And yet another pathetic attempt at keeping this place updated.. It's not like it's very hard to just get on for 5 mins here and there and type something up. But of course, if it's not very hard to do it makes it really, really easy to push off till later. In this case, that's push it off nearly a month and a half down the line. Man, at this rate, all my archives will have only one post a piece. Nice and economical for the guys hosting my site so I won't get any sympathy from them.
Not really much on the update front, still working my ass off, getting up really damn early and getting home really damn late. Still broke but that's not really all that new. Patience grasshopper, soon things will be right in the world. Now if only I could snatch that pebble from his hand. Cheesy Kung-Fu references aside, things really may be turning around. Still a bit on the dark side with no power but who doesn't love the ambiance of candlelight? And food? Instant diet plan. Social life? More money saved by becoming a hermit and playing games all night.
Speaking of games, I got a killer Tauren Hunter and an up and coming Undead Mage due to my current financial situation. Cheap entertainment goes a long way when you're broke and bored. So it's all good.. Gonna play a bit more tonight actually cause baby needs a new +5 Sword of Wounding!
Wait, that's just sounds sad.. :P Make that a +9 Sword of wounding..
Hey, although the virtual worlds been decent so far, I'm ready to get back out in the real one. On that note, I'm outta here.
2nd time in as many days I forget my cell phone at home... Doesn't matter anyway as I don't really get all that many calls on it anyway... No matter. Got an invite to a birthday party tonight and against my better judgment I went. It was a bunch of people I worked with and for the most part it was okay. Drank a few beers with a few people I wanted to, discussed a few things with people I didn't.. For the most part, had a good time and it was just what I needed tonight on a night I would have spent alone otherwise... Makes me sound a bit sad but lately that's been the case... All part of my life recently I guess, you take the good with the bad and the highs with the lows... All a part of the circle of life I suppose... Lets just hope it's an upswing this time... After all, I'm just about done feeling bad for myself, It's about time I move forward and put aside the things that hurt me as much as they do at the moment... It's all about moving forward right now...
When it rains it pours... Well, in my case, it seems I'm living on a flood plain lately... Case in point: I'm driving down a road I've driven down countless times before, in the middle of the afternoon, to a place I haven't been for almost 2 months, and I get a speeding ticket. WTF??? Another 100$ I can't afford to spend from a budget that's already stretched to it's breaking point. Not to mention the damn traffic school I have to go to to keep my insurance from going through the roof because 25 mph is just TOO DAMN SLOW for anywhere....
Hell, my truck idles at 20...
How's that for karma? It's got to get better though, it just has to... Because I damn well know it can't get much worse.
While I may be down I am far from out... My Wheel of Fortuna (free gift to anyone who gets that reference.. ) has spun as low as it's gonna go and an upward spin has to be on the horizon. Just gotta keep plugging away I guess. Nobody's going to change this but me..
Once again, I've done a bang up job keeping this place updated huh? Well, this time I'll blame work since it's nice and defenseless at the moment :D Speaking We just started to get a bit more staffing at work so it's not as crazy lately as it has been this last month or so. On top of that, trying to read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in time for the movie release this weekend so every train ride home has been dedicated to that. Somehow I don't think I'll make finish it in time due to the fact that today is release day and I'm just starting Mostly Harmless (the 5th and final book of the trilogy)... Maybe by Sunday.. :)
Well, just wanted to post something to all those who thought I was MIA. Off to the trains for now though...
Nothing like posting something I wrote a week and a half ago to make me feel like I'm actually posting to this crappy site in a timely and productive matter. :P
Weather really does a Hell of a job on internet circuits..
Storms rolled through 3/4 of the State of Illinois and I think every school, agency, library, and museum went down at one point or another because of it. Our outage map lit up like a freakin' Christmas tree, a mix of green and blue smothered in blinking red lights. In this situation however, the only gifts under this tree were scores and scores of trouble tickets. Although the storms were to blame for most of the downed sites, some tickets were opened only to find that a very unlucky squirrel mistook a power transformer for an enormous acorn. Alas poor Rocky, we hardly knew ye..
Storms and squirrels.. Makes for an interesting workday to say the least. And at least they have something in common...
The train works wonders for laptops and guys who don't post updates on their websites...
After a less then stellar day at work today I decided to hit the local pub today. Well, it's local to Chicago anyway and it's only a 10 min walk from my train station so that counts as local in my book.
I decided to hit the Venice Cafe since I was running late for the 450pm but early for the 540pm. Had a couple beers and started up a conversation with a nice couple who were visiting from Dallas. They bought me a beer and a couple shots of tequila in exchange for some info on this beautiful city of mine. (Granted, I've only been here 4 months but what do they know?) Here's a picture we had taken by Billy the Bartender..
(Picture to be inserted later. I can't find my camera cable at the moment... :| )
We talked Cubs, Rangers, art museums and mini golf and had a good time just waiting for the next train to roll in. I caught the 640 by the way (it came late) but won't regret meeting some really nice people.
I raise a toast to you Blair and Melissa, may your trip to Chicago have been a fun one..
Green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and a snake free Ireland are what it's all about today so drink up everybody!
I wore green to work today, albeit inadvertently, in celebration. After all, who would have known my only clean shirt would have been the green one with leprechauns and shamrocks all over it?? I'm not even sure if I can legally celebrate this holiday due to the fact that the amount of Irish in my blood could barely fill a thimble. I'm pretty much 100% German as far as I can trace back but you never know if you go back far enough. But then again, I'm sure most the people out today throwing back whiskey and wearing "Kiss me, I'm Irish" pins aren't all named O'Hara so I guess it'll be okay..
In other news, March Madness is here. Eating hot wings and drinking beer watching two teams from schools I've never heard of only because another win in the tourney pool means one step closer to the pot at the end of the 64 team rainbow. Not that I don't have my favorites. Illinois of course if only for the fact that they are my almost-alma matta..
So drink up that green brew and smile that broad green smile when your team sinks that last second buzzer beater to win the game. And remember to enjoy that moment..
Decided to pick this thing up again since I have a bit of time on the train in to work this morning. I know, I know.. I've been slacking yet again and most of the people who visited this place have long since given up on my sorry non-posting ass. I don't blame you really. Besides, what I had to say most of the time wasn't all that interesting anyway.
But here I am anyway so deal.
Life has been a bit busier these days now that I'm up in Chicagoland yet again. I'm working a lot now that the center has gone 24-7 and it's still kind of weird being the go-to guy about most of this stuff. It can be stressing at times but I'm finding that I kind of know what I'm talking about sometimes. Yeah, I know.. That one surprised me too.
Still being a bum about getting things set up in my apartment even though it's been nearly 4 months since I moved in to the place. Things are still strewn all over the place but in a semi-organized way. Well, that is, if piles of stuff can be construed as semi-organized. What can I say? After all, I've always been a bit of a procrastinator. Couldn't you tell? :P
Taryn and I have been doing well. Not that we don't have the occasional argument or anything. But who doesn't? After dating long distance for as long as we have it's really nice to be able to go grocery shopping on a Monday afternoon or to see a movie on a Wednesday night and not have to worry about a 3 hour drive home afterwards. Things are going in the right direction for us now that I'm up here.
Well, I would like to write more, but the train is pulling into Union. Maybe more later...
Can't seem to keep my head on straight, been finding it hard to stay focused, and I just feel like just going home. Little things are setting me off today. Grating and obnoxious people I would normally just shrug off and laugh at. But today, I'm finding it increasingly hard not to pummel them and I sure as hell don't feel like laughing. It feels like things are just missing, like my heads in a fog.
I hate feeling this way. Hope time can fix this one..
Just something to post to get me back in the habit and since as usual I have nothing of any value to say, I give you..
The Monday Monkey..
Have a caption? Fire it off to the address below and if I like it I'll post it here and give you all the credit. Hell, maybe I'll even award the best of the 3 a cool monkey related prize!
Make me laugh and win a monkey memorabilia in the process. Who could ask for more??
This seems right up your alley Chris so have at it mang, and make the Weasel proud!
Just taking a bit of a break from studying for my CCNA and decided it would be a good time to actually update this site. As usual, I've been slacking again at the updates and have been neglecting to post anything but goofy stuff and of course, this post will be no exception..
But anyway.. A lot has happened in the world of Dave these past few months. Since I talk too much already and tend to get a bit longwinded, I'll just supply you with a quick rundown.
Kind of like a Crib Notes version of Dave (September - Present Edition, 1st printing) if you will. So here goes..
September: Contract work becomes turbulent, outside consultants come in and ask all of the contractors on staff to write up job descriptions, methods of operations, etc.. Other then this documentation, ACTUAL work is becoming almost nonexistent. 4 of the 6 employees in my department are contractors, myself included. Needless to say, we become a bit concerned about the future. Resumes go out everywhere..
October: Consultants still everywhere. More of them in the building then actual employees. Phone rings maybe twice a day. Permanent positions that sound very much like ours are being interviewed for. Future is not looking good for us, so we apply. 2 get in, 2 do not. Want to guess what group I was in? Future looking extremely dim. Until...
One of my resumes gets a bite. A big one... Of all things, it's one that I turned in only two days earlier. One interview via video conference and 24 hours later, my employment future brightens. Oh, one more thing, It's in Chicago.
November: Things move extremely fast at times like these and my final week in Springfield flies by. Taking only the essentials, I head north. By mid month, I'm living out of a suitcase, staying at Taryns, and working downtown. By the end of the month, I have an new apartment and a new job in full swing. New place, new city, new start. Things have come full circle and life is good.
December: Moving is expensive. Bills come in. Rent hits. More bills come in. Ouch, ouch, ouch! The holiday comes and paychecks don't. Ramen is my friend. I start to know the credit card people by name and they send me Christmas cards. Did I happen to mention that moving is expensive?
January: Two months later and I'm still partially living out of boxes. The bills are still coming but on the bright side, so are the paychecks. But any day now, things will even out and I'll be back on track. February is the month. Just holding out for my W2s.
So okay, maybe that wasn't as short as it could have been. But then again, I told you that I had a tendency to be long winded so sue me. :P
Just a quick update to let you know that I haven't fallen off the planet or anything. Daily updates will resume tomorrow. Because I for one know I've missed the place. As for you? Who knows? :P
But anyway... More on that tomorrow..
In the mean time however... Who could go for a heapin' helpin' of monkeys? I know I could. This is Monkey Madhouse after all isn't it? And somehow a return just wouldn't seem right without them.. So here you go.
The Monkettes. Topping the charts in Germany any day now.
Hell, if this can do it then they most definately have a shot... Gotta love those wacky Germans. :D
On a side note, it seems my guestbook has been hosed up somehow. My poor webmastering skill is the current suspect but a full investigation is pending. And now back to the program already in progress...
Long time no entry huh? I have a good excuse this time though. No, really, I do.. But more on that later. :)
Quick update: Halloween weekend was fun, costume got finished and a good time was had by all. I'll make sure to post the pictures that I took. More on that later as well..
But right now it's super busy around here with all the changes that are coming down the pipe so I better get back to it.
It's the last weekend before Halloween and now it's crunch time. Last time I posted about the costume it was little more then a few sketches and some ideas floating around in my head. At present, 31 days later, it's not as close to being finished as I would have liked.
So now the pressure's on, and I'll have to finish it up this weekend. I have a feeling this will be down to the wire. Then again, what else is new? With these sort of things it seems I work better under pressure anyway. We'll see
Let's hope that's true this year. Better go stock up on Pepsi, I think I'm gonna need it..
That's it! I officially suck at updating websites.
I've been slacking quite a bit on the writing front (yet AGAIN!) and it seems I'll have to adopt my once a day random post until I can get back in the habit of writing again. I know, I know.. It's all been said before. And you're right, it has. But this time I mean it. I just need to regain a bit of discipline. In this and among other things.
So, back to the once a weekday no matter what writing. Lucky you... If I don't hold up my end of the deal you can comment on my ineptitude and harass me back into compliance. After all, everyone needs a bit of prodding now and then. :P Hopefully this time that won't be the case and this place can once again become my outlet for the random thoughts and the obscure craziness that goes on in my head throughout the day.
And maybe, just maybe, once and awhile someone might get some enjoyment or insight out of it.
Ha! Insight and enjoyment? See? Told you my thoughts were crazy.
To those of you who know me, you probably have some idea of what exactly that counter means and what it is I'm doing with most of my free time right now. And to those of you who don't? Well, I'll gladly fill you in...
This is the time of year that my creative juices get flowing and the dusty gears in my head start turning as I come up with ideas for my annual Halloween costume.
Yep, you heard right.. Halloween costume.
Last year I couldn't really explain my costume and you sort of had to see it for yourself to understand. This year however, thanks to the incredible input of MHS in #gg, I got the idea to do something a bit more recognizable..
Spidermans nemesis, the villainous Dr Octopus. >:)
Time's ticking away and 39 days has never felt so short so I better get to it if I hope to finish it in time. If I can actually manage to pull this one off I'll be amazed.. But if I do? I'll have one Hell of a time outdoing it next year.. :D
Dreams can be some messed up things at times. Take for example the other night. I had my reoccurring dream again..
Now, if you're like most people, the thought of a reoccurring dream makes you think of perpetually falling into some bottomless abyss. Or maybe you're standing naked in front of a classroom full of laughing, pointing students. Or perhaps you're single handedly saving the world from the evil clutches of Baron Von Undekoff and his army of bio-engineered Ubermen with nothing more than a swiss army knife and a stick of chewing gum. See what I mean? Perfectly normal.. But not me. Mine always tend to revolve around one thing and one thing only...
Zombies.
Yep, your garden variety reanimated living dead whose only intent is to render me limb from limb so they can feast upon my tasty innards. See exhibit A:
Now while these zombies resemble nothing more than a gang of drunks stumbling home after one too many hands of strip poker, the ones in my dreams are a bit more on the frightening side. See exhibit B:
Now that is the sort of abomination that I find myself up against in my dreams. Sure, one of them wouldn't be too horrible if you stop and think about it. Just a few swings of a Louisville Slugger would take care of things rather nicely. But I can rarely be so lucky to face only one of these things. For the hordes that inhabit my dreams I would have be swinging like Sammy Sosa at a Home Run Derby and have one Hell of a supply of bats at my disposal.
And that's the thing, I don't. For the most part I never seem to have anything to defend myself with. Last night for example, I somehow managed to dispatch quite a few with a fistful of toothpicks. (Don't ask, I have no freakin' clue..) But one by one they went down like big undead hors d'oevoures . As hard as I tried though, they were relentless and my toothpick arsenal just could not keep them all at bay. There are always more.. They just keep coming and coming.. And just as they start to pour into my room and are about to overwhelm me, my alarm goes off and I awake without ever meeting my grisly demise.
That's how it always is though. I always spend the night running and fighting with a handful of nothing against waves and waves of the undead only to be pulled from their clutches by annoying morning DJs and crappy pop music. Sometimes I don't know what's worse, being the main course for bloodthirsty zombies or being forced to listen to the newest cog in the bubblegum pop machine.. Might have to think about that one..
But I do know one thing though. Next time? I'm making sure to have my trusty swiss army knife and a full pack of Juicy Fruit at the ready. Ubermen, zombies, it's all the same when you have a world to save.
Man do I suck at updates lately. My daily's seemed to have turned into weekly's around here these days. But once again, I'm hoping to make it a bit more regular and have promised myself that I would do so. After all, everyone needs an outlet of some kind don't they?
Mine just happens to be somewhat goofy at times. And at other times it's not. But that's why I like this place so much, its diversity. One day you have a heartfelt story, the next, a bunny with a pancake on its head. You get links, stories and pictures of stick men being crushed by soda machines. If that's not variety, I don't know what is... Like the unforgettable line uttered by Forrest Gump,
"Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Well in this case, insert "Monkey Madhouse" instead of life. And also, you do sorta know what you're gonna get..
Something that's sometimes sweet, sometimes sour, but mostly, all it's gonna be is nutty.. :P
If by "regularly updating" that means once every two weeks I've succeeded in doing exactly what I said I would do. :P
But regularly updating doesn't mean every two weeks so today I gonna try to pick up some of the slack. I had mentioned a couple weeks back that things would be under construction, that there would be improvements and new features and such. As of yet, I haven't really done any of the above now have I?
So here I am, back on the wagon yet again saying to myself and to the 3 of you out there that my attempts at improvement are still in the works. They may be slow to show or be less then groundbreaking when they finally do, but they will come none the less.
Take for example another goofy ass idea of mine..
Stick Figure Fatalities.
For some strange reason I saw this warning on a dumpster and came up with a bizarre scenario that involved this family of stick figures that made their living by being made bad examples of. Kind of like Goofus and Gallant from the Highlights magazine from when I was a kid. Except, this family shares none of the great qualities of the saint like Gallant but have instead chosen to follow in the missteps of the mischievous Goofus.
Take for example these guys here, lets call them Phil and Steve. See how they're showing us the horrors of playing in, on, or around a dumpster filled with trash? Actually, they look like they are having a ton of fun. Maybe this wasn't the best example..
But anyway, I'll be on the lookout for more of these so we can keep up with the exploits of the Stick Figures as they warn us of the dangers of everyday things. Stay tuned for the further adventures of Phil, Steve, and the rest of the Stick Figure Family.
See? Told you it wouldn't be groundbreaking. Then again, you're at Monkey Madhouse. Be glad I'm not flinging poop...
And no, please don't take that in the literal sense because all you'll get from me is some pocket change and a ticket stub from "The Village". In some ways though, the stub is worth more then the full ticket because I'd have already saved you the experience of actually having to see the movie. Lets just say that it was less then good. VERY less then good...
But I digress..
My original intent was to come back on the 15th of August to mark the grand reopening of Monkey Madhouse on the one year anniversary of its very first post. Can you imagine? This little chunk of virtual real estate has been around for a full year already. And still, oddly enough, little or no useful content.. I've come a long way... :D
So there I was, all poised and ready to write up this great post full of witty comments and funny pictures to celebrate the one year anniversary... Only for me to realize at the last moment that I was a day late! The one year anniversary of this sites inception was August 14th, not 15th! My hopes of being all commemorative and such were quickly dashed..
So what do I do? Show up fashionably late with a belated birthday card in tow and hope the present makes up for my lack of timing. Shhh! It's a gift certificate good for one free makeover. MM's been looking to update its image lately.. (I'll make sure to keep you posted on that too. Keep an eye out for changes.)
But without further ado..
Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, you look like a monkey and you smell like one too.
Happy Birthday Monkey Madhouse. Here's to this one and many more.
Remember when I said that I would be back? Well cheer up, the wait is almost over.
All three of you that periodically check this place out will be happy to know that in 6 days this site will actually become a bit more active and with any luck a bit more regularly updated as well. Also, I'll be shifting things around a bit so please pardon our dust and watch out for construction zones. Safety first here at the Madhouse after all.
But mostly, I'll be spouting off more useless nonsense that I feel the need to ramble about.
Come to think about it, more or less the usual me. Stay tuned.
As of today, Monkey Madhouse is going on temporary hiatus until I can figure out a direction for it to go in. Please check back soon and I'm sure I'll figure things out quick enough. Thanks again for stopping by.
